“Small acts equal big changes.”

Violet Humble has struggled with chronic immune and stomach issues as well as a heart condition since birth, that hasn’t stopped her from volunteering, fundraising and starting her own organization to help the homeless. She’s raised and donated thousands to charities, sponsored meals for the homeless and donated countless pounds of food, toiletries and other necessities to those in need.
Oh and did we mention? She’s only 11! We got the chance tot talk to Violet about volunteering, living with a chronic illness and her desire to one day work with sloths. Check it out below!
1. Do you prefer texting or talking in person?
I definitely prefer texting! It’s a lot easier to get my thoughts out in text.
2. What is your dream job?
My dream job is actually working with sloths! I am obsessed with them!
3. If you cold trade lives with anyone for a day who would it be?
I would trade lives with my dog Glenn!
4. What is the worst job you could possibly have?
I wouldn’t want to work on one of those fish boats because I am scared of the ocean!
5. If you were a super hero what powers would you have?

I would want to read minds and/or talk to animals.

6. What do you love most about acting and modelling?
I love the costumes when I get to act and be on set! It’s so interesting to be taken to another place or time through sets and costumes! With modeling I love creative photo shoots!
7. What made you start volunteering and raising money for the homeless?
When I was in the hospital all the time, I would look out my window and see them panhandling. I realized that I couldn’t make myself better or change my situation, but I could change theirs. And that thought was powerful to me.
8. We heard that you’ve spent your fair share of time in the hospital. How has this effected you and have do you keep so positive?
It’s hard sometimes having a chronic illness. I get tired, and have pain, and sometimes can’t be “normal.” But it’s made me have a lot of empathy. I see people and I wonder what their story is? Knowing I have the power to make others happy makes me happy and inspires me to do my best every day despite any challenges.
9. What is the most rewarding part about helping those in need?
Because even small things like a toothbrush can change someone’s day. You make someone happy, and they go on and it causes a ripple effect. A toothbrush or a pair of socks seems small, but it creates an impact that changes the world. Small acts equal big changes.
10. What has been your most successful fundraiser and how did it go?
I have been able to raise about $15,000 for various nonprofits! My most successful one was an online campaign we started when I was in the hospital. Each year for my birthday I plan an event for others in need.
11. Have you ever thought about starting your own non-profit? What would you call it and how would it work?
Yes! I am working on it now! It is called VOLT: Violet’s Outreach of Love and Togetherness.
12. What do you love most about the Girl2Girl Wall?
I love that girls are able to ask questions in a safe space! Girls supporting other girls is something really important to me.
