“Why can’t we make a lollipop that’s good for your teeth?”

According to the US Surgeon General tooth decay is the single most chronic condition facing kids in America, so it might come as a shock that 13-year-old Alina Morse is fighting it with candy. Alina’s candies are sold at 7,500 stores, including Walmart Kroger and Amazon, and even distributed internationally in countries like south Korea and France

In 2018, Alina even made history as the youngest person to appear on the cover of Entrepreneur Magazine and 10% of profits are donated to fund an increase in oral health education in schools, as well as contributes her lollipops to institutions and dentists who promote oral health education.

 Talk about impressive!

We had the chance to sit down with Alina and talk all things Zollipops. Check it out below!

6. Start from the beginning! How did Zollipops begin?

Zollipops originated on a trip to the bank with my dad, the bank teller offered me a lollipop, my dad told me that I shouldn’t have candy because sugar is terrible for your teeth so I asked him why can’t we make a healthy soccer that’s good for your teeth so I can have candy and it wouldn’t be bad for me. After 2 years of plant trials and hard work we finally created a zollipops!

7. Where did the name Zollipops come from?

The name of zollipops was thought up by my little sister Lola, we were trying to come up with names for our new product and we were going to call it the Xylitol lollipop I asked Lola if she would like to try a is Xylitol lollipop, she said you mean a zollipop. It was perfect and sweet just like our product.

8. Why did you decide to make lollipops as opposed to any other candy?

Research shows that kids prefer lollipops over other hard candy. Also hard candy must be best choice for our ingredients because it stays in your mouth longer and gives the magic teeth cleaning ingredients time to work.

9. What was it like seeing yourself on the cover of Entrepreneur Magazine?!

It was incredible being on the cover of Entrepreneur magazine, it was a dream come true being on such an influential magazine with many other influential women this year. It was truly a dream come true and I am so grateful to entrepreneur for shining a light on young entrepreneurs.
