Hiii so Christmas is right round the corner! Try out this recipe for some yummy Christmas treats.

P.S I tried it on my own and the results are AMAZING, although you might want to try it more than once to excel at it. But whatever, they’re perfect and I can’t wait to make them for Christmas this year either.

  1. 2 1/2 cups sugar, divided
  2. 1 1/2 cups applesauce {I used natural, no sugar added}
  3. 2 pkgs {3 ounces each} red or green gelatin {i.e. cherry, lime, etc.} – 6 oz total
  4. 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin {.25 oz each}
  5. 1 tsp lemon juice {I used bottled}
  1. Coat a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray. Place in refrigerator.
  2. Combine 2 cups sugar, applesauce, red OR green gelatin, unflavored gelatin and lemon juice in a large saucepan. Let stand for 1 minute. Bring to a boil over medium heat stirring constantly. Boil for 1 minute and then immediately pour into cold baking dish. Refrigerate until firm {about three hours should do it. I left mine in overnight.}
  3. Loosen the sides of the gelatin with a spatula and invert onto cutting board or waxed paper.
  4. Use small, sharp cookie cutters to cut out gumdrops. It helps to dip the cutters into hot water first.
  5. Sprinkle sugar over a piece of waxed paper and place gumdrops on top of sugar. Let dry for about 8 hours or until slightly sticky.
  6. Roll in remaining sugar and store in an airtight container.
