Did You Know?
Did you know that taking your role of parent less seriously can help you be a better parent?

Of course, it´s important to take your responsibility as a parent seriously – there is no more important responsibility in the world. However, if you find yourself thinking only of your "job" as parent in your interactions with your children, constantly looking for the "lesson" to teach your daughter in every experience, chances are that you´re neglecting the most important thing you need to give her. While your daughter needs to learn many things about the ways of the world from you, it´s even more essential that she feels connected to you, on a basic human level. See if you can just try to be with your daughter sometimes, listening without lecturing or advising, resisting the impulse to fill silences with words or directives, appreciating her as her own unique person in this world. When you connect on a regular basis as two people, it allows the relationship to breathe and provides balance and space for those other moments where you want your daughter to be open to what you have to teach her.
