GET CRAFTY
Here are 7 fun things to do this week courtesy of the cool new book "My DIY" by Kim Potts.
July 4th: Frame It Glue various colors of dice around a plain picture frame. Make this a gift for a loved one who's taking a gamble on something risky!
July 5th When using curling mousse or gel, apply it when hair is soaking wet and scrunch it throughout your locks.
July 6th Festoon a plain pair of drugstore flip flops with big silk flowers for a designer-ish set of summer footwear. Click HERE for Miss O's How-To.
July 7th Take a plain, inexpensive long mirror (maybe there's one stored away in the garage or attic? If not, they're usually available at Target for under $10), paint the frame and hot glue fake flowers, a feather boa, fake leaves, pinecones, beads, pom poms or other trims around the frame for a custom-made full-length mirror. July 8th: Mmmmmm It's National Strawberry Sundae Day. Go all strawberry: Put two tablespoons of strawberry syrup or jam in a small bowl. Put two scoops of strawberry ice cream on top. Cover with two more tablespoons of strawberry syrup or jam, and add 1/2 cup of sliced strawberries on top of that. Top with tablespoon or two of whipped cream and end with a sprinkling of strawberry-flavored Nerds!
July 9th: National Video Games Day Set up your own video game tournament with friends, and make it a party with snacks, music and a crown (made with gold-colored posterboard adorned with fake rhinestones) for the champion!
July 10th Bagel cut in half + 1/4 cup tomato sauce + shredded cheese + pepperonis or veggies strips + toaster oven or regular oven = your own personal pizza! |
