Play My Music
Joe and his brothers got their first taste of
performing in public at their dad’s church. A chance
meeting in a hair salon led Mrs. Jonas to a
children’s talent scout who recognized the brothers’
potential and recommended they audition for plays
and commercials across the river in New York City.
Joe landed a role in the Broadway musical ‘La Boheme’
when he was 13 and he went on to sing in productions
of ‘Oliver’ and ’The Velveteen Rabbit’.
The Jonas boys loved performing on Broadway and
singing in the church but they wanted a future in
pop music. Joe, Nick and Kevin were signed to a deal
with Columbia Records and put out an album, ‘Its
About Time’ in 2006. Despite everyone’s best
efforts, the album did not sell well and the band
was dropped from the label.
Being dropped was a heartbreaking setback, but the
brothers didn’t let their dream die. They saw You
Tube as a way of going direct to fans and posted
videos of their performances. The tactic worked!
They caught the attention of executives at Hollywood
Records searching for fresh young talent. They flew
the JoBros out for an audition and the rest is
history!
The Jonas Brothers have sold over 3,901,000 albums
in the US alone and have sold out concert venues
around the world, thanks in no small part to the
handsome, hilarious and rockin’ lead singer Joe!
Hollywood Calls
We all know that Joe is gorgeous and an amazing
singer, but the world has learned that Joe is a
talented actor too!
In 2008, Joe was cast as the lead in the Disney
Television blockbuster ‘Camp Rock’. Joe played a
spoiled rock star named Shane Gray. Hollywood
insiders realized that Joe Jonas was a triple
threat; he could act and dance as well as sing!
Many acting opportunities came pouring in after the
debut of ‘Camp Rock’. One of his most publicized
auditions was for the upcoming romantic comedy
‘Valentine’s Day’. Joe was thrilled to be considered
for the role but could not be a part of the film due
to the Jonas Brothers crazy schedule. Says Joe, “I
actually went for the audition and it was looking
really good, but scheduling just wasn’t working out.
They were filming in the summer and we [Jonas
Brothers] were touring during the summer.” Not to
worry, girls! Joe is currently filming ‘Camp Rock 2:
The Final Jam’!
You can get your Joe fix every week on the Disney
comedy show, ‘JONAS’. Joe plays Joe Lucas, the lead
singer, comedian and main heartthrob of the band.
Joe will also be seen this season as a guest judge
at the Dallas auditions of American Idol!
