INTERVIEW: James Lafferty

James Lafferty
James Lafferty's role as a high school basketball phenom on The WB's "One Tree Hill," affords the 18 year-old a chance to showcase his real-life prowess. The California-native, who tapes his show in Wilmington, North Carolina, was an all-league varsity player at Hemet High School and is such a fan of the sport that he thinks Dennis Rodman merits a reality show!

Name: James Lafferty
Show: "One Tree Hill"
Age: 18
Birthplace: Hemet, California

Describe your house: It's a normal beach house, and we're renting it, so it still has a lot of pastels and wicker furniture. It's nothing too special

Type of cell phone you use? A Nokia

First five numbers on your speed dial . . . My mom, my brother, my girlfriend, my manager and one of my friends

Do you have pets? How much time do you spend with them? I have two cats, but they're not in North Carolina

What cereal is in your cupboard? Lucky Charms

Favorite vacation spot: Hawaii

For dinner, I like to make . . . I can't make anything. But I like to eat pizza

I'll eat sushi, but not . . . I don't eat sushi, and I also won't eat eggs

Coolest article of clothing you own? A Jason Kidd authentic basketball jersey or a LeBron James authentic jersey

Coolest thing you own? A handheld GPS

Instead of a late night talk show, I'd rather watch: "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" or "South Park" or anything on Comedy Central

First splurge you ever made with an acting paycheck? I bought a car, an SUV

Before I die, I want to . . . Travel the world, see Europe and Africa . . . pretty much just go everywhere

The best perk of being a celebrity is . . . So far, getting to go to some pro basketball games and getting to sit up close

Is there any celebrity you would ask for an autograph? At one time I would have, but now I think I'd feel a little weird. But I'd probably ask for autographs from some pro basketball players if I had some memorabilia to get signed

When I get on an airplane, I have to have this with me? Music

What would people be most shocked to know about you? Because of the nature of my character on the show, they might be shocked to know that I am actually a nice guy

Book I'm reading: I just finished reading "Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six M.I.T. Students Who Took Vegas for Millions" by Ben Mezrich

Magazines I subscribe to: "Slam"

Favorite cartoon: "The Simpsons" or "South Park"

I was so excited when this came out on DVD: "Band of Brothers"

What's on your iPod playlist? Some Tupac, some Jack Johnson, some Sublime, some Cake

I can't start my day without: Cereal

If you had to spend $10 at your favorite fast food joint, you'd order: Three soft chicken tacos and regular nachos from Taco Bell
